No reason for some of the races you couldn’t mix an unleashed career and a ikrpg career. Man at arms chieftain. Or is there something?. I tend to go with the IKRPG one as it lines up better with stuff like Greataxes from Unleashed. But then, I did my own redo of Nyss to not require. With all the cool new races/careers in Unleashed we were considering and themes of the Iron Kingdoms, and this issue bears directly on that.

A Beautiful Nightmare: A Review of Iron Kingdoms Unleashed
If you look up the definition of arbitrary, you’ll see that it applies quite well to the IKRPG ruleset. I would ask your GM first, but as soon as I get the book I’m going to encourage my players to do it. DnD doesn’t have a restrictive fluff though. I have loved what PP has done so far and am extremely excited for Unleashed! A Trencher is a member of a specific set of units in the Cygnaran military.
And in some cases these careers do not require any sort ubleashed stretch at all. Don’t miss these posts. My guess is that they decided that these three forms of necromancy are too far removed from each other to cover with Career Options.
Reading through the comments here, it looks like people want setting neutral classes, which is fine, but not to what I believe is the spirit of IKRPG.
Why risk making some ikrpt monstrosity when something that works fine is right over there, but named incorrectly for what you want? The rulebook also includes a selection of abilities, spells, and rules to improve the pregenerated characters as you continue your adventures up until the full release of Unleashed.
Cryxian necromancy is a cultural thing practiced by devotees of the dragonfather. Well, they use a combination of training and magical subjugation. Gatormen can be necromancers too, methinks. The assorted martial traditions Stormblade, Iron Fang, Trencher, etc. Then if it is so restrictive that they can’t have a Nyss warlock, or anything from Legion, and Skorne in the book. The other is an expert in the highest order of technology civilization has achieved.
This will be true of any content we produce that takes a narrow focus on an unleahsed of the setting. Plus, in an RPG setting, characters are typically less “typical” than the setting usually would suggest. Become a Redditor and subscribe to one of thousands of communities.
Some argue that the choices available, are unlaeshed enough for their tastes, or that any changes they need to make are “minor” or they can get close enough to what they want. Trollkin, Ogrun and Gobbers could worship the Wurm but they don’t do that anymore.

Yes, I’m fully aware that gatormen are not in fact unleaahed or ogrun. They did a minor rework on the Nyss in unleashed and the sword at least offers more options in unleashed. When I see a group comprised of a mishmash of various character types, I see a group of people who all are playing what they like.
And this is pretty strongly included in the opening fluff of the core book, so if you’ve yet to read the opening lore on the setting, I’d recommend doing that. It’s like PP is saying that people don’t exist outside of the wargame.
The same applies to Nyss. For example an easy counter to anyone trying to game the system as suggested by Banzai, would be simply to require that a PC pick the book of their race as a parent book, IE skills, abilities, etc follow the wording from that book only.
Because only pigs know how to swing halberds, aparently.
(Do not up vote) Can you mix careers from unleashed and the other books? : ikrpg
That’s more or less what I was thinking. Want to add to the discussion? I would allow a gatorman field mechanik with a good justification and backstory unleasued, or a gatorman bokor, but not the two combined in the same character.
Welcome to Reddit, the front page of the internet. I like the idea of building unique ‘classes’ by irkpg of a generic set of careers.
However, this is an RPG and the rules are guidelines. It’s your game, make it yours, take ownership. Want to know more about Gun Mages?

Most DnD party composition sounds like a bad joke. Its more real to me.
The races in Unleashed seem far more potent alone, and that’s before adding things like warlocks and archers and blood boon and whathaveyou. That doesn’t mean that all Tharn women must be blood weavers or wolf riders, but rather that the only blood weavers and wolf riders are Tharn women.
But this is why the list as we have it has made me a little bit concerned.
